The Movilitas Movilizer offers an innovative solution approach in order to satisfy the special needs of its users and to reach a significant optimization of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Therefore Movilizer is cloud-based and offered as Software as a Service (SaaS). It supports almost all mobile devices and operating systems and offers a simple calculable cost structure (monthly royalty per active user).
The innovative approach of Movilizer is based on
four basic principles:
1 — Simplicity
- Focus on fast deployment of business processes on mass devices
A new business process, e.g. the maintenance of transformer stations, can be transferred to mobile devices without complex installation mechanisms using virtually any terminal device.
- Easy to use – little to no training for end users
With Movilizer, user interfaces of applications are deliberately kept simple and easy to understand. Setting possibilities of the application (e.g. calendar, time etc.) are adapted to the native user elements of the mobile terminal device so that users find their ways without great efforts. In this way applications can be used immediately and with minimum training.
- Easy to maintain
Movilizer operates as Software as Service (SaaS): The platform is hosted by the Movilizer team and accessed from the customer system over a secure connection. In this way the complexity of the connection layer between back-end, application systems and mobile applications (middleware) is simplified. You as the user can completely concentrate on your business processes while the Movilizer expert team is responsible for the technical peculiarities of process mobilization. This solution significantly simplifies the administration for companies because they do not have to build specific technical know-how in the complex and rapidly changing area of mobile technologies.
- Offline operation
Movilizer can be used offline while utilizing available online possibilities. Thus users do not need an online connection to continue their work because they have all necessary data on the terminal device.
2 — Flexibility
- One application for many devices
Applications which are created based on Movilizer work on almost all common mobile phones and smartphones (iPhone, BlackBerry, Android). Furthermore all PDAs with Windows Mobile and tablet PCs (Windows, iPad) are supported. Thus their users do not face any restrictions with regard to the type of terminal device. In addition you can use the same application on different devices without any need to adapt the application.
- Flexible adaptation of the application without new deployment
A core feature of Movilizer is the adaptation of an application to changes in business processes WITHOUT interrupting production operation. Movilizer defines the entire application in the backend system. This means that there is no need to install new software on the mobile device if the application in the backend system is changed. The change will be delivered and activated as soon as the mobile device is synchronized the next time with Movilizer.
- Support of mixed roles and heterogeneous backend systems
The Movilizer architecture is designed to merge functions from different applications from different systems in one single application on the mobile device. For example, in addition to masks from maintenance (SAP PM) masks with data from third-party systems can also be made available to the user. Thus flexible role definitions can be realized for mobile users.
3 — Integration
- The entire business logic is developed in the backend system
Along with Movilizer, Movilitas provides SAP-certified plug-ins for the SAP backend which can be used to define the requested mobile processes in the backend. The plug-ins are stored as ABAP coding in the customer’s SAP system und can be adapted there at any time to reflect changes of the business logic to be mapped. No further development is necessary, neither in the Movilizer middleware nor on the mobile Movilizer client.
- Multi-backend integration from SAP and third-party systems
When using Movilizer you can integrate at any time (at application creation or later changes) data from third-party systems in the mobile application of the user. You don’t need any separate application for it; data from other SAP applications or third-party systems can also be integrated in mobile applications as further sub-functions.
4 — Low, controllable costs
- Low training efforts for end users (Process Driven vs. Data Driven)
Applications created with Movilizer can be designed in a way that there is almost no need for training in order to use them efficiently. All masks are based on uniform templates which allow using the application intuitively. Once the user got used to the basic principles of the application, also future extensions of the application will be uncritical with regard to acceptance and error probability.
- Use of existing hardware (table PCs, mobile phones, PDAs)
There is a high probability that already existing mobile devices can be used for new mobile scenarios. In this case, enterprises do not have to invest in new hardware. External users can use simple mobile phones in order to work with the mobile application.
- No new infrastructure (middleware) necessary
The middleware is not installed locally but operates in the cloud and is centrally hosted (Software as a Service). Movilitas guarantees you a safe access and a safe data administration. Your advantage: Movilizer customers do not have to build their own know-how and IT infrastructure for mobile applications.
- No prior licence fees
There are no licence fees for Movilizer customers. Once you start using Movilizer, a monthly fee is charged per active user which covers the costs for operation, maintenance and support. Settlement is made on a monthly basis.
- Short implementation cycles
Shorter implementation cycles are possible because there is no need for middleware installation or configuration and all developments are dislocated in the ABAP area of the SAP system. Thus, departments can get a first prototype for testing early on and potentially necessary corrections can be considered in the concept.
