Russian Track & Trace Compliance
The Chestny ZNAK track & trace system was created by the Center for Research in Perspective Technologies (CRPT). The purpose is to protect customers from fake goods by ensuring their authenticity and declared quality.
There are five steps that cover the product journey from the manufacturer assigning a digital code to the store scanning it before placing on the shelf to the customer scanning the code on the mobile app. This process creates a record of the entire value chain and helps prevent counterfeit goods from entering the value chain and finally getting into the hands of the consumer.

Pharmaceutical Serialization & Tracking
Russia’s Federal Law No. 425-FZ contains a deadline of July 1, 2020 (revised from January 1, 2020), for tracking pharmaceuticals. It dictates the requirements of drug serialization that manufacturers must meet. The law is robust, requiring stakeholders to gather more data and communicate securely with Russian systems.
The directive requires a cryptographic key in addition to a 2D barcode and randomized serial numbers. Therefore, technology used in compliance solutions must be able to handle the longer codes from data exchange to aggregation. It also specifies 50+ transactions must be monitored and reported on from manufacturing to dispensary.

Consumer Goods, Food and Beverages
Counterfeiters don’t only target the life sciences industry. They’re also interested in consumer goods, food and beverages. Therefore, Russia is focused on not only regulating pharmaceutical traceability. The country's goal is to eventually fully track all imported products.
As of September 2019, Russia is focused on the below non-medicine industries. However, this list may change at any time.
- Beer
- Cameras & Flashbulbs
- Dairy
- Footwear
- Fur
- Light Industry
- Perfume
- Tires
- Tobacco
- Wheelchairs
